The intention of these articles is to tell stories, about what is happening at Chaitanya Kul. Now after a few weeks, it is evolving in two directions, the abstract idea of the work we do and anecdotes that tell our readers about the place and events. Therefore continuing our weekly update here and will be putting an abstract post in a different category and/or posting them on LinkedIn. Let us know your thoughts on this.
A very important event happened last month, Dipawali the festival of lights. Satyam, the founder, went to his mother's place for a week in Meerut. It means for the first time I had the place for myself, which was amazing for a time and then it got frustrating towards the end (It was personal, nothing to do with the children.). However, being Dipawali the children were quite excited to celebrate it and decorated the place as their own. They did help me out with the cooking and other things too.
They really put great effort into maintaining the place. I got to witness what Dipawali is like in a rural setting. On the occasion of Diwali the children cooked some yummy Veg Biryani for lunch and later in the evening they decorated the place with Diya’s (made out of earthen lamps). Some tasty sweets came in from different families. I got to see a few temples that were beautifully decorated. The ambiance was really nice. Early in the morning at around 4 o'clock, I was supposed to witness some ritual that is only unique to this region but the children who were supposed to wake me forgot to wake me up.
That week was a good rollercoaster, but when working with children, issues are a part and parcel of the problem. Yes, initially I was worried that things would be way chaotic and ever since the inception of the space that gives them enough experience and set an example for the younger generation. For that I am grateful.
We have had two new friends stay with us for a couple of weeks. Tune in for the next week's article to find out about them and more...
